I’m Mahmoud Tettei Shahday. I was born to a Muslim dad and a Christian mom whom I cherish so much. I know it’s surprising how a Muslim and a Christian came together but that baffles me too. My mom is from Winneba and my dad is from Tema in the Central and Greater Accra Region of Ghana respectively. I absolutely believe in God and His Son Jesus Christ. I’m a born again Christian and full of the Holy Ghost. Even though I have earthly parents, my Bible lets me know that my origin is in Christ and I come from Zion, the City of God. You can check out my Statement of Faith to know about my beliefs.
“Let no one think slightingly of you because you are a young man; but in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, be an example for your fellow Christians to imitate” (1 Timothy 4:12, Weymouth Bible). I love the Word of God in every way; and I always say it has the answer to every problem in the world. My parents got divorced when I was very young. Even though my mom was a Christian, she really didn’t know much as in the new creation realities. Just like some believers, I believe she thought like: “I’m born again so that’s all; I probably have to wait for the coming of the Lord.” But that’s not all; there is a higher life in Christ.
My life totally changed when grandma carried me along to Winneba. She was quite old, and had to go back to take care of her matrilineal home as the oldest in the family. Even though she’s illiterate, she’s just brilliant! She used to tell me more about God as well as the miracles the Lord wrought by her hands. She has such a great faith! In fact, I’ve benefited from her faith style in several ways. I had my primary education in Winneba, after which I came back to mom in Tema where I had my Junior and Senior High School and Tertiary education. I got used to computers in Junior High School and I would order some Christian materials online to study.
I developed so much passion for the Word that I couldn’t do without taking it for a day. Whenever I found tracts in the street or in corners, no matter how dirty they were, I’d pick them to read – and I’ve got some in my bookshelf. I’ve been truly blessed through those who sponsor the Gospel for ministry materials to be distributed to people across the globe. I’m saying this because I know people actually paid for the materials I received by post. Such people are really touching lives they may not know. The Lord is their primary source and they’ll never run dry. As Bible declares, “…God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving]” (2 Corinthians 9:7 AMP).
Don’t think you’re wasting your money when your man of God tells you to give; God can’t do without you. That’s amazing; how blessed are givers! I remember the Lord speaking to me as a kid. Whenever He did, He’d say: “Be anxious for nothing!” I found comfort in the Words of the Lord and my life’s never been the same. Currently, I’m working as an IT Technician. But hey! I will never stop teaching the Word of my Maker. We’re taking the Gospel and the divine presence of God to the nations of the earth in demonstration of the Holy Ghost and power! I’m so grateful to my man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD (Hebrews 13:7 NIV). Pastor, I love you so much!
I want to encourage you today, listen, it doesn’t matter where you find yourself right now. God can turn things around for your good. You’re never a mistake! Just find out what He has said in His Word concerning you and act accordingly. Don’t dwell on your feelings; don’t see yourself the way others see you. Get the true picture of yourself by studying the Bible – it’s your mirror! (2 Corinthians 3:18). Consciously and continuously meditate on what God has said about you in His Word until it settles down in your spirit, and until your inner man becomes fully aware of who you are.
Believe it, for the Word always WORKS!
I love you,
God bless you!
